Wells-next-the-Sea Painting

After taking some photos of the stunning place, Wells-next-the-Sea, it had been niggling at my mind to paint from them. So I set up my acrylics and easel and this is what I created. With delightfully deep blue skies mirrored in the sea below, the clouds and sea ripples gave stunning highlights.

I was struck by the rustic fence leading us down to the beach and the shadows cast by the sun that day which you can see at the bottom of the painting. The dry grass whispers up from the edge reminding you, you are still on land in the UK! In the distance you can see some land and trees peeping over the horizon, separating the sea from the sky.

A strong piece with great depth.
