“Be Still Earrings”

I was inspired to paint these earrings when listening to the Hillsong song “Be Still”. The stormy sea represents those tough times in our lives – whether it’s a rough day or a much longer time when things are really hard. We can sometimes feel overwhelmed and like we’re drowning by what’s going on around us, and in us.

What is so beautiful, is that Jesus offers us His peace – his calm in the middle of the craziness. When things seem out of control, He can bring an underlying peace and calm to us. The two doves on these earrings represent Him and you, soaring above the storms of life. We don’t have to be crushed, we don’t have to crumble. He is here with us and when we spend time with Him He will give us His peace.

Then I painted a rainbow to the side as a reminder that this is a promise –

“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

I think the lyrics to the song I mentioned sum it all up so well:

“When the oceans rise and thunders roar, I will soar with You above the storm. Father, You are King over the flood – I will be still, know You are God. Find rest, my soul In Christ alone Know His power In quietness and trust”

I painted these earrings on tear drop lightweight wooden shapes so they won’t weigh your ears down at all. The overriding colours are blues and white giving a calming effect. They are finished off with earring hooks made of hypoallergenic stainless steel (304) and are 925 Sterling Silver plated.
